Soccer Ball Topper Tutorial

Got a soccer themed party coming up? Fret not, the twins have the perfect soccer ball topper tutorial for you!

To make this soccer ball you will need the following items:
1. Styrofoam Ball ( 6")
2. Black and White Fondant
3. Corn syrup
4. Skewers
5. A tall glass

Making the ball:

Step 1: Insert a long skewer at the base of the Styrofoam ball. Let it sit upright in a Tall glass.

Step 2: Glaze your Styrofoam ball with corn syrup with a pastry brush to make it tacky.

Step 3: Use a printable template to cut out the pentagons and hexagons on the ball.
It's best to have two people cutting out the shapes for the sake of your sanity but if you can't, start of with the white as black fondant will stain  your tools and work surface.

Step 4: Using a guide such as the one provided below, stick the shapes into place.  You may have to trim the shapes as you go along.

The steps are simple enough but the time and ease at which the fondant shapes cut and dry out depend on the climate you live in. Working with Fondant in Singapore is never easy so but patient if you live in sunny (humid) Singapore!

Use a tall glass to let it rest while it dries

Here's the finished product- It was a great cake to kick start our baking and we hope you learned a thing or two to make your own topper! To see more of the cookies, click here

Elsa Doll Cake

To kick-start our 6-month hiatus from baking, we made an Elsa Doll Cake fit for a princess! This cake was very special for us because we've been part of this little girl's 1st and 2nd birthday.

For Elsa's dress, we used the wilton 1M tip and piped rosettes. If you need a basic buttercream recipe, you can refer to our previous post by clicking here.

It's great to be back in Singapore and we can't wait to share more recipes and tutorials with all of you:)
