Does your kid love Minecraft and have a ton of Minecraft of toys lying around? Then this is the perfect Minecraft cake tutorial for you!
We baked a single 8" square chocolate cake and filled the cake with our chocolate & Oreo frosting. To make the frosting, we crushed up some yummy Oreos (we removed the filling because we didn't want it to be too sweet - but you can leave it in if you like!) and mixed it in with the buttercream (recipe here + melted Hersey's milk chocolate).
If you use a blender, do not blend the Oreos till fine crumbs but pulse it at short intervals.
Crumb coat the entire cake with the frosting and use the left over crumbs with more crushed Oreos to get the soil look of the Minecraft cake.
Pipe on the grass using a Wilton Grass Tip:
Finally, we printed and cut out the name "Natalie" in the Minecraft font on paper and used that as a template to cut out her name in fondant. The black details were then drawn on using an edible black marker.
Place your toys on the cake and you're done! Happy Caking!
