Designing a dessert table can be challenging and here are some tips to have a beautiful dessert table without breaking the bank. Firstly, mix and match dessert with different price points. Not everything has to be expensive and a dessert table doesn't need a huge number of dessert elements. For our rustic dessert table, we kept it simple with 5 elements:

1) Cake
2) Cupcakes
3)Macarons (chocolate and vanilla)
4)Vanilla Custard Cream Puffs
5) Red eggs

Next, use a variety of plants and flowers to create that rustic earthy look. If you are on a tight budget, we highly recommend getting Eucalyptus ($16.50) and baby's breath ($17) for a rustic table. Of course, change up the flowers depending on the season! We bought our flowers & leaves from Far East Orchid

Fill up the spaces on the table with door gifts or favours. In our design, we placed the first month boxes on the sides which make it easier for the parents to pass the boxes out to guests as well.

Most professional dessert tables have different height elements on them. Instead of spending money on glass jars or cake stands you will likely never use again, try using boxes that you can later use for storage (IKEA has some great ones for only $9.90!) or photo frames to create the different height elements (See our Frozen Dessert Table).

For this particular table, we used wooden crates we got from a friend and a photo frame we picked up from Cotton On on sale at $5. The wooden boards used for the pink mini macaroons and cream puffs were picked up from Daiso.

Lastly, balance sweet and savory for a unique look and spread. For this full month dessert table, we added red eggs which are necessary in celebrating a baby's full month according to Chinese tradition.

  1. I am not very creative but must tell you that this is something so much fun to do and end result is always satisfying. Few days ago, threw a party at one of best party venues Chicago and did all decorations myself. Everyone at the party loved them.

  2. Thanks for supporting the idea of 360 degree feedback. I’ve seen it create division in senior teams when handled incorrectly and seen transformation happen when used elegantly. It’s all about the intention and skill of those who facilitate the process.
