Great White Shark Cake

Great white shark cake. Under the sea

This cake was one of the highlights of our week! The great white shark, sea life elements and sign were all made from fondant. The client requested for the shark to dive from the water and we love how this idea turned out. Read more to see a full shot of the cake!

Our repeat client (see Maxi's plane cake here) planned for a shark themed cake for her little boy who loves sharks & it was a cake that we were genuinely very excited to create.

We thought that a wooden sign would suit the cake & it was made by cutting a rectangle from some light brown fondant and painting it with some brown food colouring mixed with vodka (you can use any clear alcohol/ extract).

The buttercream waves were made using an offset spatula and 3 different shades of blue & white buttercream. For the waves, make sure to keep the white buttercream mostly at the top (i.e. sea foam) and to spread the buttercream in a downward motion.

Add the intricate fondant details & "sand" and you're done!
